Colonel Cycle Oil Lamp by Powell and Hanmer

Powell and Hanmer Colonel Oil Lamp Picture

Oil lamps were more popular than carbide being cheaper and safer. They were used from the late 1880's right through to the 1950's.

This one is a Powell and Hanmer "Colonel" and is around 6 inches high. The rear lamp would be identical except for a red lens. It is unrestored but working. Being chrome plated rather than nickel suggests later manufacture.
