Celebrating the Founders of the Boat Race

The Oxford - Cambridge Boat Race was first rowed in 1829. One if its founders, Charles Merivale was Dean of Ely and along with Charles Wordsworth rowed on that first race. Ely celebrated the bi-centenary of Merivale's birth with a rerun of the race and the unveiling of a plaque. March club members turned out to add to the atmosphere.
